A Letter to a MSM Journalist about the Election of Trump and the 'Post-Truth World'

I just read your recent article about how facts are dead in a post-truth world. It seems you have bought into the bogus idea (via the Oxford Dictionary definition you cited) that "objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief" (this is only somewhat true).

That you applied this thinking to the Trump win (that some of us predicted, with caveats) shows you are out of touch with the key facts that led to his victory.

I wrote in February 2016, while Trump was knocking off the other Republican candidates, that people would vote for him because of certain fundamental truths he was addressing: that the US economy was wrecked and this was caused by massive outsourcing, that the real unemployment rate was actually closer to 20%, that there was a real issue with this economic situation and having an open border with Mexico, and that many people appreciated his gung ho demeanor.

He was speaking the truth against a mainstream media narrative that was telling people that things were essentially okay.

The problem with the MSM coverage is that it did not actually hold truth to power and vilified Trump at every turn. Many voters rejected the media spin on the election and were more interested in Trump's grasp of reality in terms of the US economic situation. It reminded me of the Bill Clinton campaign and the phrase "It's the economy, stupid."

It really didn't matter what outrageous things Trump said, people voted for real change because of the economy. This is why people were also voting for Bernie Sanders. (He only lost against Hillary due to the superdelegate system and DNC vote fraud).

The reason MSM journalists are not trusted is because the online media told the truth of what was going on while the corporate media acted to gloss over real crimes. Ordinary people had direct assess to REAL information and access to Trump's speeches. They could judge his real meaning for themselves over the edited MSM soundbites. Alt and social media working together pointed out the distortions and focused on fundamental issues.

Trump was right that Hillary should have been in jail (for mishandling classified information), and he was right when he called out Jeb Bush and the neocons for launching the invasion of Iraq through deliberate lies about WMDs. He was also right about Obama and Hillary supporting ISIS in the Middle East (a 2012 DIA report stated that "The West, Gulf Countries and Turkey" were supporting the Syrian opposition where the lead groups were Salafists, the Muslim Brotherhood and AQI - at a time when the US Admin was saying the lead groups were 'moderate rebels'.)

As for the women accusing Trump of sexual assault. A number of the women cited came out and supported Trump and said they had been misquoted, while other claims were shown to be false (the airline groping, the ex-Apprentence contestant etc). He also defended the 'fat' Miss Universe winner, when the MSM recently said he insulted her, at the time when the media had been on her case for putting on weight. The sexual assult accusations looked like the 2016 version of John Kerry's swiftboating. Well researched journalists would have pointed this out (and did online).

Yes Trump has a crass mouth, but that does not make him guilty of the accusations levelled against him. Real researchers know the truth about who Trump is and FAIRLY reported about him during the election.

The 'fake news' meme, that you have bought into, is simply a slur pushed against independent online media to discourage people from finding real analysis on the big issues. The fake news is actually the MSM.

My Facebook wall is public and I invite you to be friends with myself as a window into the alternative media.

A number of my letters to the ABC appear on my (undisclosed for now) blog and also at a friend's blog called Trump is Right.

Here is a post from Feb 18 called: Hillary Clinton is a Crook - This is Why People Won't Vote for Her (A Letter to ABC's 7:30 Program)

http://trumpisright.blogspot.com.au/2016/02/hillary-clinton-is-crook-this-is-why.html

Please note, I am trying to help you by offering a broader perspective on the election (and also global events). Try not to be offended.

ps. Your Fact Check program on the ABC didn't do a good job, neither did Planet America. I tried to help with my letter writing but was seemingly ignored.
