David Swanson: "Unemployment Numbers are Phony Numbers"

The White House was in celebration mode today. This after the Labor Department declared the joblessness numbers have fallen to a three year low to 8.5 percent. Approximately 212,000 new jobs were created, but many feel that these numbers are distorted since people who have been unemployed for long periods of time and people how have part-time jobs were omitted. David Swanson, activist and author of When the World Outlawed War, joins us to examine the numbers.

spook,

Are there any you tubes from ABCCBCNBC etc on this same subject? Or, Is RT the only place this stuff about a critique of these employment numbers being presented?

Recently I have not come across any other TV stations covering how these employment numbers are calculated.

I do however, recall that PBS at certain stages aired accurate stories about the dodgy/criminal causes of the global financial crisis. I seem to remember they have covered unemployment issues. I do not know whether they specifically dealt with the cooked numbers.

Thankfully(!) we have online sites like Shadow Government Statistics that deals with the numbers accurately:

spook,

It seems odd to me that the issues that we are interested in get discussed on these edge sites like RT and Press TV and Al Jazeera. You'd think that the MSM would try to put out their own story on easily accessable you tubes.

I suspect a) they don't because all that material is behind pay-per-view firewalls, and 2) they may just not have any material on these issues.

But this, if true, annoys me.

It suggests we are marginalizing ourselves from mainstream opinion by being interested in the grantedly important issues of war and peace and the nature of the economy. Most people, listening to the MSM think skepticism of their positions are bizarre anti-Americanisms.

That is, as we don't find anything in the MSM that's real and true, the people who pay attention to it primarily, don't find anything cogent in the critique that we find on our sources. There is a wall put up that maintains their worldview, despite our critique.

I think the dybamic here is dangerous.
