Mass Expulsion of Russian Diplomats Likely Prelude for Worse to Come - Stephen Lendman

Out-of-control Western hostility toward Russia ominously resembles earlier events preceding world wars I and II.

History doesn’t repeat. It rhymes, Mark Twain once explained, today heading recklessly toward potential nuclear confrontation, a doomsday scenario if not stopped.

Weapons used in earlier global wars were toys compared to today’s super-ones – able to turn nations into irradiated rubble overnight.

Is that where things are heading? Will humanity be extinguished in global mushroom-shaped clouds?

Will the human species be the first one ever to destroy itself, and most everything else with it?

Has an unthinkable rubicon of no return been crossed, too late to turn back? Does Russophobic rage doom us all – no antidote to what’s ongoing, no way to change things?

The unprecedented mass expulsion of Russian diplomats from at least 23 countries continued new millennium hostility toward the country, likely much worse to come based on disturbing events so far.

An irreparable East/West divide exists, Russian relations with America and Britain especially fractured beyond repair.

Far more serious is how things are heading toward possible nuclear war – the Skripal false flag incident ending any chance for normalizing Russian/Western relations.

It’s futile for Moscow to try repairing things. Its overtures fall on deaf ears in Washington, Britain and other key Western capitals.

Cold War 2.0 rages out-of-control, heading for unthinkable war between the two dominant nuclear powers if the present course isn’t challenged and stopped.

A fuse was lit before the Skripal affair, greatly exacerbated by events over the past few weeks – Trump going along with dark forces running America, his only option if wanting to remain president, risking potential humanity destroying nuclear war to save his job.

It’s unlikely he could change things if he tried. Presidents can be eliminated like mere mortals.

The lesson of Jack Kennedy still resonates with anyone old enough to remember his state-sponsored assassination.

Regime change in Russia is longstanding US policy, Britain a willing co-conspirator.

Other European nations, Canada and Australia were pressured to go along – evident from Monday’s mass expulsions.

They’re continuing on Tuesday – 23 countries in all so far continuing what Theresa May-led Tories began, over 135 Russian diplomats ordered out, over 145 including NATO expulsions, discussed in a separate article.

In alphabetical order, countries hostile to Russia include Albania, America, Australia, Britain, Canada, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Spain, Sweden, and Ukraine.

Sergey Lavrov correctly said few “truly independent countries (remain) in the modern world and in modern Europe…”

Nations expelling one or two Russian diplomats succumbed to “colossal pressure and colossal blackmail,” he stressed, adding:

This type dirty business “is Washington’s chief instrument (on) the international” stage – either go along with its agenda or be severely punished for disobedience.

“(W)e will not tolerate such impudence,” said Lavrov, Russia’s response to mass expulsions coming against all countries involved.

If not tough enough, it’ll show weakness, encouraging Washington and Britain to escalate things more than already – why it’s essential for Moscow to show resolve and strength at this crucial time in East/West relations.

Chances for Russia detente with Washington and Britain are dead.

Outreach to the West can’t work.

Given how badly relations deteriorated, things are virtually certain to worsen ahead, not improve.
Nuclear war remains an ominous possibility, too grave a threat to ignore, humanity’s fate up for grabs because of US-led NATO rage for control of world nations, their resources and populations.

A previous article said Russia has lots of options. Perhaps it’s best one is quietly warning Washington, Britain and other Western countries, clearly explaining it won’t tolerate further unacceptable hostility – saying it’s ready, willing and able to respond harshly to further provocations.

Diplomacy is a dead letter, a waste of time. The only language Washington and its key allies understand is force, toughness – the only sensible option for Moscow to pursue in response to US-led NATO wanting pro-Western puppet rule replacing its sovereign independence.

Preserving isn’t possible by being Mr. nice guy. Russia surely understands.

Its future depends on policies pursued ahead at this crucial time in its history – the most dangerous one since Hitler’s Operation Barbarossa.

Outright war is unlikely but a split in relations with Russia will help ramp up military spending in the West. A split from China, in terms of trading imbalances, and opposing their influence in the Asia-Pacific and Africa, can also occur. Various things are happening at once. A globalised homogenised world  order is not going to happen with Russia and China remaining relatively independent. Walls are going up.

How far things will unravel is anyone's guess. The next step is unwinding the mass migrant invasions of Western nations.

Dozens of States Urge London to Provide Thorough Evidence on Skripals' Poisoning

Nearly 160 countries from non-Western bloc consider that London must provide evidence on Russia's alleged involvement in the nerve agent attack on ex-spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter in the United Kingdom, the press officer of the Russian embassy in London told reporters.

On Monday, May said that Russia "was responsible for the reckless and brazen attempted murder of Sergei and Yulia Skripal in Salisbury."

"We have taken note of Prime Minister’s statement. Nuances may change, but the most important thing remains the same. Even if Mrs May said that she was absolutely sure that Russia was responsible for the incident in Salisbury, she would have to present all evidence to Russia, the international community and the British public. This is the opinion of almost 160 countries which are not members of the Western bloc. It is obvious that no one in the wider world would take British words for granted," the press officer said.

The short article highlights the lack of hard evidence, which should have been forthcoming, in light of the brazen claims coming from UK officials.

Fact Checking Newsbud's "Syria Under Siege" Video (CorbettReport)

James fact checks Newsbud's recent "Syria Under Siege" video and comes to some unfortunate conclusions.

This is an IMPORTANT video that addresses questionable behaviour coming from Newsbud. It's almost like Sibel Edmonds has had a mental episode or had been co-opted by powerful threatening forces (was her family threatened?).

The content of the Newsbud clip is so wrongheaded it's hard to believe what they put out was anything less than a deliberate attempt to discredit themselves (or to show that they've been co-opted). Has Sibel Edmonds been given psychotropic drugs (and Spiro et al)?

Please Note: The Spookyweather blog posted the Syria Under Siege video in good faith and it was one of the very few clips not fully viewed before posting (Newsbud has an excellent record). This Corbett Report video should be seen as a correction to that previous post.

ABC Double Down on the Privilege Rap - Sargon

ABC produced a video response to everyone who criticised their attempt to propagandise children with neo-Marxist ideology.

A very entertaining critique by Sargon of Akkad.

Comment: Is there some bias in terms of male culture or interests in some workplaces? Yes. But the blanket male privilege concept put out in the Rap Video was over the top and wrong headed. Some female dominated work places would have a culture that is not endearing to male workers. Plus there are laws against paying women less for doing the same work. The issue is one where 'single minded males' tend to work excessive hours in some work place beyond the numbers of females that would do the same thing, and that they don't have babies and a biological clock which encourages family over career in many situations.

Keiser Report (E1207): Spiking Debt

In this episode of the Keiser Report from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Max and Stacy discuss the US national debt spiking by a trillion dollars in just six months, and what this means in a day and age when its largest creditor, China, has introduced a new social credit system which penalizes those with big debts. In the second half, Max interviews author and investor, Harry Dent, who has had a house in Puerto Rico for 20 years but is just moving to the island now. They discuss debt and demographics.

Escobar: Will The Putin-Xi Era Supersede The Western Liberal (Dis)Order?

The Chinese constitutional amendment allowing Xi Jinping the possibility of further presidential terms - staying in power long enough to bring “national rejuvenation” combined with the Russian election re-confirming Vladimir Putin in the presidency have assured consistency and continuity for the Russia-China strategic partnership way into the next decade.

This will facilitate the interaction between the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the Eurasia Economic Union (EEAU); policy coordination inside the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the BRICS and the G-20; and the overall drive towards Eurasia integration.

The strengthening of what should be viewed as the Putin-Xi era could not but render Western liberals – and neoliberals – absolutely livid.

Capitalist interests have always believed their own propaganda narrative, which directly links capitalist expansion with the inevitable spread of democracy.

Critical thinking is, at last, debunking it as a grand illusion.

What in fact happened since the early 1980s was that Western turbo-capitalism avidly profited from a variation of neo-slave labor in China’s Special Economic Zones (SEZs). Compound it with the proverbial hubris of Western elites betting that China — regarded at best as a source of cheap labor as well as an enfeebled Russia during the 1990s would never accumulate enough know-how to challenge the West, geoeconomically and geopolitically.

The historical record is implacable, showing there’s no connection whatsoever between “free” trade – usually freer for those with extra economic heft and political liberalization. For instance, the Prussian monarchy lowered trade barriers and that led to the creation of the Zollverein in 1834. And the Third Reich between 1933 and 1938 offered a heady mix of hardcore capitalism and totalitarianism.

China’s system, where a (Marxist) party controls the state for the purposes of national cohesion certainly does not qualify as a liberal democracy. Dissenter Minxin Pei, the author of  China’s Trapped Transition, already knew 12 years ago that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) would never go the Western liberal democracy way (Pei did understand Little Helmsman Deng Xiaoping’s commands to the letter).

He got it right that China has “no interest in becoming a member of the [Western] club. They want the economic benefits from the Western liberal order but reject its political values and fear its security alliances. Now they are in a strong enough position attempting to build their own clubhouse.

What Pei got wrong is that the CCP would smother China’s economic growth (“The prospect of a Japanese-like stagnation is real.”) Xi Jinping and his new dream team need enough time to successfully tweak the Chinese economic model.

Away from childish 24/7 demonization, the fact is Russia today is a democracy, albeit imperfect. And it’s important to analyze how a young democracy can be manipulated. The third chapter of new book Manifest-Destiny: Democracy as Cognitive Dissonance details the rape of Russia; how Boris Yeltsin’s “free market reforms” facilitated by the “Harvard boys” allowed a small coterie of billionaire oligarchs — Mikhail Khodorkovsky, Boris Berezovsky and Roman Abramovich among them — to take over an economy suffering from shock therapy.

Between 1991 and 1997 Russian GDP collapsed by a whopping 83% while investment into the economy fell by 92%.

The case of Khodorkovsky is emblematic. Through Yukos, he owned key Siberian oil fields and was about to sell them all to Western corporate interests back in 2003 when Putin went after him. There’s no question this was avidly studied by the Beijing leadership. Control of key national resources is the ultimate red line.

For Putin as well as Xi, the supreme arbiter is the national state, not a bunch of oligarchs like it’s become a norm across the liberal and neoliberal West. On a BRICS level, compare it with the current usurper installed in the Brazilian presidency, who’s doing his best to hand over most of the pre-salt oil reserves as well as aviation giant Embraer to foreign interests.

When in doubt, ask Confucius

It has become a ritual for guardians of the Western establishment to weep hard about the “fading liberal world order.” At least some admit it is “neither liberal nor worldwide nor orderly.”
Lesser guardians may be more realistic, noting how Western politicians have been completely bypassed by popular anger in myriad latitudes, yet still believing it’s possible to “rebuild democracy’s moral foundations.”

It’s not — not under the predominant neoliberal creed, the post-mod TINA (there is no alternative). The guardians, left and right, cannot possibly understand the rise of populism — because those under the populist influence clearly see how the myths of “rule of law” and “national sovereignty” are fast dissolving in the mud. The guardians at best mourn, nostalgically, “the loss of elite influence.”
China, Russia, Iran and Turkey  - all implicated in Eurasia integration  - may all rank as authoritarian systems at different levels. And cases can be made that, with the exception of China they still underperform economically compared to their true potential.

Yet one thing they value most of all is national sovereignty amid a multipolar system. That’s their conceptual counterpoint to the il(liberal) world (dis)order. That’s their answer to TINA.

As for “the loss of elite influence,” that’s code for a self-described coterie of the wealthy and powerful claiming a fuzzy democracy moral high ground which only unmasks their deep fear as the Western unipolar moment dissolves sooner rather than later.

All these contradictions are in sharp relief when we look at the European Union. The EU, since the Maastricht treaty, has been steered into becoming what Angela Merkel herself defined as Bundesrepublik Europa — the Federal Republic of Europe.

Anyone familiar with Brussels knows how those waves of tax-free Eurocrats milk an ultra-centralized and bureaucratically Kafkaesque regulation system as they remain completely out of touch with normal, real-life Europeans.

The EU’s notion of promoting “economic integration”  including heavy doses of austerity could not be more anti-democratic.

Add to it scandals at top state level that do nothing but corrode the belief in the primacy of the Western liberal democracy model. The latest involves the real possibility that Colonel Gaddafi probably financed the 2007 Sarkozy presidential campaign in France; an outstandingly murky affair featuring the politics of energy, the politics of water, and the proverbial major weapons contracts through which Western liberal democracies discard any moral high ground.

Now compare it with Xi Jinping as hexin lingdao (the nucleus of the leadership) a sort of primus inter pares in a Sinified version of Plato’s Republic. Greek-Roman-Enlightenment political theory is not the only game in town anymore. Yet not a chance the hubristic West will start listening to Confucius.

China Moves To Destroy US Dollar As They Launch The Gold-backed Petro-Yuan

In a massive move against the global dominance of the U.S. dollar, China’s highly anticipated Petro-Yuan has been launched in Shanghai. With China being the world’s largest consumer of oil, this new currency is an international game-changer that was a predicted move by China to directly compete—and subsequently devalue—the US dollar.

Analysts call the plan, announced by Beijing in September, a huge move against the dollar’s global dominance – and reserve currency status.

The Chinese government reportedly plans to allow the crude oil futures contract priced in yuan to be fully convertible into gold.

As TFTP reported at the time, in addition to serving as a hedging tool for Chinese companies, the contract will allow for increased use of the yuan in trade settlement.

These contracts will thus enable China’s trading partners to pay with gold or to convert yuan into gold without the necessity to keep money in Chinese assets or turn it into US dollars, according to Bloomberg.

Essentially, the new benchmark will allow exporters, such as Russia, Iran or Venezuela to avoid US sanctions by trading oil in yuan that is convertible to gold – thereby negating the hegemony of the petrodollar.

On Monday, trading of the new oil futures contracts for September settlement started on the Shanghai International Energy Exchange at 440.20 yuan ($69.70) per barrel, reports Chinese daily the South China Morning Post. Some 18,540 lots have reportedly been sold and purchased so far.

As Bloomberg reports, the Petro-Yuan is a direct challenge to the dollar’s dominance. However, whether or not it will have an immediate effect remains to be seen.
Leading economist, Carl Weinberg, managing director at High Frequency Economics, goes even further, predicting a major paradigm shift. Weinberg told CNBC last year that China will likely “compel” Saudi Arabia to abandon the petrodollar, and instead, begin trading oil in yuan—a move he says is likely to precipitate the rest of the oil market following suit and abandoning the U.S. dollar as the global reserve currency.

At the BRICs summit last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed Russia’s support for the Petro-Yuan to specifically challenge the “unfairness” of the US dollar’s global dominance.
As the respected journalist/geopolitical analyst Pepe Escobar explains: ‘to overcome the excessive domination of the limited number of reserve currencies’ is the politest way of stating what the BRICS have been discussing for years now; how to bypass the US dollar, as well as the petrodollar.

And yet China is also trying to avert a full blown trade war:

China's premier pledges to open markets in a bid to avert a trade war with the US

Premier Li Keqiang said on Monday China and the United States should maintain negotiations and he reiterated pledges to ease access for American businesses, as China scrambles to avert a trade war.

Li told a conference that included global chief executives that China would treat foreign and domestic firms equally, would not force foreign firms to transfer technology and would strengthen intellectual property rights, repeating promises that have failed to placate Washington.

Rivero "John Bolton Appointment Shows That Donald Trump Is Assembling A War Cabinet."

Things look bad. Everything depends on what actually happens and how Trump uses Bolton. If we see neocons replacing Obama holdouts and an expanded war in Syria and a war with Iran then we will know that Trump has been fully captured by the establishment.

One move that is good is the US trade war with China. The bottom line is that the US gave China everything in terms of industry and technology and it is time to repatriate the US industrial capabilities and capacity.

Webster G Tarpley great 15 minutes The Men Behind Obama

Tarpley's views here did not fully come to fruition but the general geopolitical landscape he outlines is very close to the mark. This clip is worth looking at to get into the mindset of those people playing games on the world stage.

At this point in time you can see how China and Russia are being isolated while the neocon project for destroying Middle East states continues, with jihadists directed by Western interests. There is also a move to weaken the general populations in Western countries via mass migration that will eventually lead to an anti-Muslim backlash and further the move to destroy Arab countries in the Middle East. So far Russia has prevented a collapse in the region with their intervention in Syria. They know they and Iran will be targeted next if a collapse occurs there.

EXCLUSIVE – Jackie Mason: Same Media Hyping Stormy Daniels Ignored Clinton Sexual Assault Accusers

The same news media currently hyping claims that Donald Trump had a consensual affair with porn actress Stormy Daniels were largely uninterested in investigating the serious charges of sexual assault against President Bill Clinton, legendary comic Jackie Mason noted.

Trump has denied Daniels’ story, with White House Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shahon on Monday charging that “the only one who has been inconsistent is the one making the claims” – referring to Daniels.

Daniels entire story is consensual. There was no story of attacking her or abusing her. She wanted to have sex with him. Since when is that a crime? If you had to put everybody in jail because they had sex, the whole country would be in jail.

No Evidence Required: Manufacturing Lies and Deception in the Quest for War

Ever since 9/11 and the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq, the state has increasingly passed off falsification and lies as truth. Prior to that event, the state peddled lies—from the sinking of the Maine to the Gulf of Tonkin, to name but two—and over the last decade and a half it has used this tactic with increasing frequency. On March 4, a former Russian spy and double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter were apparently poisoned and found catatonic on a bench in the British city of Salisbury. Prime Minister Theresa May accused Vladimir Putin and the Russians. She did this without sufficient evidence and before an investigation of the incident. United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley not only blamed Russia for the poisoning, she also linked it to alleged chemical attacks in Syria, again without evidence. The Russian blame game has now gone into overdrive and in the process moved the world closer to a war between nuclear super powers. The new standard is no evidence. None is offered and none required. The propaganda media reports false flags and fabricated events as fact and the people either believe or they don’t—it doesn’t matter to the state, it uses propaganda to justify sanctions and other acts of war. It no longer bothers to engineer believable false flag events.

Breaking: The Russian Military Warns: A Major U.S. Led War in Syria Is Imminent

On March 17, the Russian General Staff warned about an imminent attack on Syria. The statement did not elaborate. Of course, some information is classified but an independent and impartial analysis of publicly available information leads one to the same conclusion. Let’s look at the facts.
There are warships deployed by US Navy in the Red Sea, the Mediterranean, and the Persian Gulf. They are ready to launch roughly 400 long-range Tomahawks against a target in the Middle East on any given day. Sea-launched cruise missiles were used to strike Syria in April. Anything that is at all related to the military operations on the island of Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean is hush-hush information, but it’s an open secret that the strategic bombers based there can launch at least a hundred cruise missiles and then use other high-precision munitions in a follow-up attack. On average, one bomber carries 20 AGM-86 ALCMs. Five bombers are believed to be normally stationed on this island that is off-limits to inquisitive outsiders. This means that at least 500 cruise missiles can be fired on short notice.
On March 17, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov declared that Great Britain, France, and some additional countries besides the US had special forces operating in Syria that were engaging the Syrian Army directly. But it’s not just commandos.

It was reported on March 16 that the UK would be stationing a significant number of troops at the US-controlled Al-Tanf military base, adjacent to the Iraqi border. This facility is prominently eatured in NATO’s war planning in Syria. It blocks the corridor linking Iran to Lebanon via Syria and Iraq. The size of the deployment — about 2,300 troops accompanied by tanks and helicopters — is too significant just to be intended to fight Islamic State militants who are already on the run.

Before that, the US had already sent 600 troops with armored vehicles to the base. And American reinforcements have also been sent to the Omar oil field.

On March 12, US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley threatened military action against Syria.  Experience has shown that the US will strike first and think about explanations later. It’ll no doubt “invent” some pretext to justify its actions.

Tensions have risen since last week. For instance, the mainstream media raised a ruckus over a mysterious “large underground” North Korean military base in Syria! This story about Pyongyang helping Syria to rebuild its chemical stockpiles and other urban legends are going viral.

The escalation coincided with the March 16 meeting between the Russian, Iranian, and Turkish foreign ministers in Astana to discuss further plans to bring peace to Syria, including expanding the concept of the de-escalation zones. That meeting laid the ground for a summit in Istanbul on April 4. There are about two weeks still to go. This top-level event could produce landmark decisions that might foil the West’s plans in Syria. Not much time is left. From the American perspective, this calls for urgent action to stymie that process.

Washington’s plan includes the goal of partitioning Syria in such a way that a large chunk of it would remain under the control of the US-led coalition. The Americans are already assembling municipal councils on the lands east of the Euphrates River. This area must be retained at any cost in order to ensure that Washington has a say in the future settlement of this war-torn country, otherwise all the hard work put in so far will go down the drain, undercutting America’s global standing and diminishing its clout in the Middle East.

Losing Syria would be tantamount to suffering a major defeat in its confrontation with Iran, which it considers its arch-enemy. The plans include a rollback of Russian forces. Syria is the right place to do that. If the Russian military is openly warning the world of an imminent strike, that is a serious threat. And it does not look like a one-strike operation. This time we’re in for something much more serious — a large-scale operation to “contain” Russia, beat back Iran, win the support of the rich oil-exporting Arab nations and make them pay huge sums for American weapons, and show the world the US is omnipresent and adamant in its desire to dictate its will.

Before US Troops Protected Poppies In Afghanistan, There was No Opioid Epidemic in America

The Afghanistan War is the longest in United States history, and despite initial claims that the goal of the invasion was to keep Americans safe by destroying the Taliban and al-Qaeda, the result has been a massive increase in opium production that has fueled an on-going opioid crisis in the United States and ensnared more than 2.5 million Americans in heroin addiction.

As whistleblower and former FBI contractor Sibel Edmonds noted, before the U.S. invaded Afghanistan in 2001, there were around 189,000 heroin users in the United States. By 2016, that figure increased to 4.5 million—an estimated 2.5 million heroin addicts and 2 million casual users.

The number of heroin overdose deaths in the U.S. also skyrocketed with a 533 percent increase from around 2,000 deaths in 2002 to more than 13,200 deaths in 2016. The is part of more than 64,000 deaths attributed to drug overdoses in 2016, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

If the United States’ goal was to eradicate the source of heroin in order to cut down on addiction and overdoses among Americans, then troops would be destroying opium fields with flamethrowers. Instead, the opposite is happening and U.S. troops have been caught guarding poppy fields. Under supervision from the U.S., Afghanistan is now responsible for producing 90 percent of the world’s opium supply.

As the U.S. warns that there is no end to the Afghanistan War in the foreseeable future, the country’s contribution to the world’s opium supply continues to increase. Coinciding with the completion of a massive troop surge, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and Afghanistan’s Ministry of Counter Narcotics released a report claiming that the “area under opium poppy cultivation increased by 63% since 2016, reaching a new record high.”
The total area under opium poppy cultivation in Afghanistan was estimated at 328,000 hectares in 2017, a 63% increase or 127,000 hectares more compared to the previous year. This level of opium poppy cultivation is a new record high and exceeds the formerly highest value recorded in 2014 (224,000 hectares) by 104,000 hectares or 46%. Strong increases were observed in almost all major poppy cultivating provinces.
As a result of the increase in 2017, the report acknowledges, “The significant levels of opium poppy cultivation and illicit trafficking of opiates will probably further fuel instability, insurgency and increase funding to terrorist groups in Afghanistan. More high quality, low-cost heroin will reach consumer markets across the world, with increased consumption and related harms as a likely consequence.”

Many users who are currently addicted to heroin did not start with the drug. They were originally prescribed opioid painkillers, and when their prescriptions ran out they began looking for alternatives. A 2014 study from the Journal of the American Medical Association claimed that “there is now growing evidence that some prescription opioid abusers … graduate or shift to heroin, at least in part because it has become more accessible and far less expensive than prescription opioids.”

An analysis by the Centers for Disease Control noted that “heroin use has increased across the US among men and women, most age groups, and all income levels,” over the years and that individuals who are addicted to prescription painkillers are now 40 times more likely to become addicted to heroin.

The Afghanistan War will cost American taxpayers more than $45 billion in 2018 and while the U.S. continues to monopolize on the country’s opium production, it is having a direct effect on the millions of Americans who have found themselves in the snares of a deadly addiction—and while most are paying for it with their taxes, thousands are being for it with their lives.

China Invades Saudi Oil Realm: PetroDollar Kill

China is working a strategy with the Saudis. Since the last months of 2017, the Jackass has been firm that the ARAMCO deal for IPO stock introduction might never occur. And if it did, then Hong Kong might be the only location for the IPO launch. It seems that disclosure and transparency is non-existent to this Arab kingdom. Now the stock listing might be in Riyadh and nowhere else. Imagine the risk to brokerage houses if the truth comes out, that the Saudi oil reserves are only 20% to 40% of the disclosed amount, a grand lie and deep fraud. Such will not stop China from investing privately in ARAMCO, since it would serve two purposes. It would enable huge diverse participation in the Saudi Economy, which contains a second treasure trove of minerals. It would enable the Chinese to purchase Saudi oil in RMB terms for payment. In the last month, the Russians confirmed an equally sized investment stake in ARAMCO. If the Chinese sit on the ARAMCO board of directors, they will surely convince the Saudis to alter the payment method in approval. It could be a primary part of the deal.

The view that makes sense is that Russia will set oil output policy and China will set oil payment policy, as the Saudis have found a new sponsor and protector. The Saudi Royals have ceded control for their remaining oil reserves and production policy. The pudding proof will be military missile deals, since the Saudi Royals want the best. The entire team at the table will continue the lie on the ARAMCO valuation, but keep honest the USDollar amount on their investment. They will cite 10% investment stakes, but while smiling like Cheshire cats. The resulting percentages will be much higher than disclosed, like over 50% for R&C combined, thus control!

Further Chinese investment across the Arab oil region is extremely evident, and in considerable volume. The extent, range, and depth has never been seen before. It extends from Algeria and Libya in North Africa to Iraq and Kuwait in the land mass, to United Arab Emirates in the Gulf region. The diversification includes port construction, oil production, building refineries, stakes in concessions, and provision of drill equipment. Such is without precedent. In typical Chinese manner, they sow the seeds of commerce, which produce jobs and economic growth, leading to more wealth and a better standard of living. The US approach for too long has been to foment discord, to sell weapons, and to observe economic destruction, with resentment in residue. In the process of the Chinese invasion into the petro fields, the US and European firms are gradually seeing encroachment on their turf, which had been securely held for decades. But they still have significant presence. It is easy to see that each Arab nation will be nudged into accepting RMB payment in oil shipments. They must comply with the wishes of their investment partner. The end result will be the death of the Petro-Dollar defacto standard by a thousand dragon cuts. It is assured. The demise will be slow at first, then occur suddenly.

Algeria has turned to China for development, after the IMF left the nation with poverty and debt servitude following a debt restructure. China is building ports, vehicles, and residential homes. The Chinese RMB is openly traded. Petro-China agreed to a deal to produce Libyan oil. The Eurasian Trade Zone reaches to North Africa. The Chinese are reaching into the North Ffrican region, to undermine the Petro-Dollar.

Algeria is turning to China to finance several infra-structure projects, including a new $3.2 billion port. The North African OPEC member has responded to the lower oil prices. Oil & gas production account for 60% of the state budget, resulting in an energy earnings decline by 40% last year. The government slashed spending, raised some subsidized fuel prices, and curtailed major projects. The nation weathered the oil decline well, with little foreign debt and more than $130 billion in reserves. The Chinese funding of key projects represents the first time it has sought external funding in a decade. Chinese businesses are already well rooted in Algeria, especially in housing and construction. In one flagship project, Chinese firms are helping to build a huge new mosque worth $5 billion in the capital Algiers. Soon Chinese banks will fund the port in Cherchell, east of Algiers. Its facilities will be capable of processing 26 million tonnes of goods per year. A vehicle and trucks assembly plant and thousands of houses are among the Chinese-funded projects planned for the next couple of years. China’s Shanghai Ports Group will manage the project. Total Chinese investment in Africa was $32 billion at the end of 2014.

A key sign of the growing trade between the two countries, Algeria uses the Yuan (RMB) currency in exchanges with China instead of the USDollar. Traders at ports cite big demand for the RMB currency. Algeria has had its fill of predatory IMF funding and aid. The Chinese funding is more politically acceptable than multilateral lenders such as the International Monetary Fund. After the nation signed a debt restructuring agreement (i.e. debt default) with the IMF in 1994, Algeria saw social tensions escalate as a result of unpopular measures such as closing state firms, sacking thousands of workers, and removing subsidies on primary consumption items. It also devaluated its currency by 40 percent. Many Algerians correctly blamed the IMF, seeing it as a foreign tool that created poverty. But the presence of China is widely seen as beneficial for Algeria and its economy. There are 35,000 to 40,000 Chinese workers in Algeria, according to the Chinese ambassador. See Reuters (HERE). The Chinese have entered the ravaged nation of Libya. Their large oil firms will assist in reviving the Libyan production. The United States left the nation in ruins after killing its leader Qaddafi, stealing its 144 tonnes of gold, and fomenting sectarian violence toward chaos and scorched earth. See Bloomberg (HERE).

Iraq to build the first of four oil refineries in the city of Fao under Chinese contractors. The ISIS asset captures have been reversed. Iraq is OPEC’s second largest oil producer, behind Saudi Arabia. The Chinese are reaching into the interior Arab region, to undermine the Petro-Dollar.

Iraq plans to build an oil refinery at the port of Fao on the Gulf with two Chinese companies, and is seeking investors to build three more large facilities. The refinery in Fao will have a capacity of 300,000 barrels per day and include a petro-chemical plant. Two other refineries, each with a lesser 150,000-bpd capacity, are planned in Nasiriya in southern Iraq, and in the western Anbar province. A third will feature 100,000-bpd capacity, set for Qayara, near Mosul in northern Iraq. It was taken back from Islamic State militants (ISIS) last year.

Iraq is OPEC's second largest oil producer, behind the leader Saudi Arabia. Its refining capacity was curtailed when in 2014 ISIS guerrillas (under hidden US and Israeli control, truth told) overran its largest oil processing plant in Baiji, north of Baghdad. Iraqi forces recaptured Baiji in 2015, but the location sustained heavy damage from the war. The country now relies on the Doura refinery in Baghdad, and Shuaiba plant in the south. The expansion of these four additional refineries will lift Iraq back to pre-ISIS levels. The rape and pillage of Iraq by the United States is gradually coming to an end, as its leaders look to China for development. The Iraqi Reconstruction Fund set up by the USGovt was nothing more than a shell game for large US corporations to pilfer and defraud. See Jerusalem Post (HERE). In one of several agreements, a deal with China’s state-run Zhenhua Oil is set to help market Iraqi crude oil to Chinese refineries. They will share profits. China is working both ends with Iraqi, which enjoys some revival. See Gulf Times (HERE).

Stormy Daniels’ Lawyer May Have Opened Her Up to $20 Million Lawsuit and Implicated Them Both in a Crime

The aging porn star’s lawyer, Michael Avenatti’s thirst for fame may come with a hefty price tag for his equally desperate client.

According to a legal analysis by lawyer Robert Barnes on Law and Crime, Avenatti “chose to file the suit that disclosed confidential information publicly, rather than under seal, in his suit to set aside the non-disclosure confidentiality agreement. By doing so, Avenatti exposed his client to a $20M judgment.”

The report explained that courts across the nation have ruled that this simple act alone is often grounds for a summary judgement due to it being a breach of a material provision of a confidentiality agreement.

Additionally, Avenatti tweeted of a photo of a DVD which he claims contains additional evidence and was being used as a “warning shot.” If this DVD contains a sex tape as many have speculated, it would be revenge porn of the worst kind — and he has opened his client up to criminal prosecution.

Integrity Has Vanished From The West - Paul Craig Roberts

Among Western political leaders there is not an ounce of integrity or morality. The Western print and TV media is dishonest and corrupt beyond repair. Yet the Russian government persists in its fantasy of “working with Russia’s Western partners.” The only way Russia can work with crooks is to become a crook. Is that what the Russian government wants?

Finian Cunningham notes the absurdity in the political and media uproar over Trump (belatedly) telephoning Putin to congratulate him on his reelection with 77 percent of the vote, a show of public approval that no Western political leader could possibly attain. The crazed US senator from Arizona called the person with the largest majority vote of our time “a dictator.” Yet a real blood-soaked dictator from Saudi Arabia is feted at the White House and fawned over by the president of the United States.

The Western politicians and presstitutes are morally outraged over an alleged poisoning, unsupported by any evidence, of a former spy of no consequence on orders by the president of Russia himself.  These kind of insane insults thrown at the leader of the world’s most powerful military nation—and Russia is a nation, unlike the mongrel Western countries—raise the chances of nuclear Armageddon beyond the risks during the 20th century’s Cold War. The insane fools making these unsupported accusations show total disregard for all life on earth. Yet they regard themselves as the salt of the earth and as “exceptional, indispensable” people.

Think about the alleged poisoning of Skirpal by Russia. What can this be other than an orchestrated effort to demonize the president of Russia? How can the West be so outraged over the death of a former double-agent, that is, a deceptive person, and completely indifferent to the millions of peoples destroyed by the West in the 21st century alone. Where is the outrage among Western peoples over the massive deaths for which the West, acting through its Saudi agent, is responsible in Yemen?  Where is the Western outrage among Western peoples over the deaths in Syria? The deaths in Libya, in Somalia, Pakistan, Ukraine, Afghanistan? Where is the outrage in the West over the constant Western interference in the internal affairs of other countries? How many times has Washington overthrown a democratically-elected government in Honduras and reinstalled a Washington puppet?

The corruption in the West extends beyond politicians, presstitutes, and an insouciant public to experts. When the ridiculous Condi Rice, national security adviser to president George W. Bush, spoke of Saddam Hussein’s non-existent weapons of mass destruction sending up a nuclear cloud over an American city, experts did not laugh her out of court. The chance of any such event was precisely zero and every expert knew it, but the corrupt experts held their tongues. If they spoke the truth, they knew that they would not get on TV, would not get a government grant, would be out of the running for a government appointment. So they accepted the absurd lie designed to justify an American invasion that destroyed a country.

This is the West. There is nothing but lies and indifference to the deaths of others. The only outrage is orchestrated and directed against a target: the Taliban, Saddam Hussein, Gaddafi, Iran, Assad, Russia and Putin, and against reformist leaders in Latin America. The targets for Western outrage are always those who act independently of Washington or who are no longer useful to Washington’s purposes.

The quality of people in Western governments has collapsed to the very bottom of the barrel. The British actually have a person, Boris Johnson, as Foreign Secretary, who is so low-down that a former British ambassador has no compunction in calling him a categorical liar. The British lab Porton Down, contrary to Johnson’s claim, has not identified the agent associated with the attack on Skirpal as a Russian novichok agent. Note also that if the British lab is able to identify a novichok agent, it also has the capability of producing it, a capability that many countries have as the formulas were published years ago in a book.

That the novichok poisoning of Skirpal is an orchestration is obvious. The minute the event occured the story was ready. With no evidence in hand, the British government and presstitute media were screaming “the Russians did it.” Not content with that, Boris Johnson screamed “Putin did it.” In order to institutionalize fear and hatred of Russia into British consciousness, British school children are being taught that Putin is like Hitler.

Orchestrations this blatant demonstrate that Western governments have no respect for the intelligence of their peoples. That Western governments get away with these fantastic lies indicates that the governments are immune to accountability. Even if accountability were possible, there is no sign that Western peoples are capable of holding their governments accountable. As Washington drives the world to nuclear war, where are the protests? The only protest is brainwashed school children protesting the National Rifle Association and the Second Amendment.

Western democracy is a hoax. Consider Catalonia. The people voted for independence and were denounced for doing so by European politicians. The Spanish government invaded Catalonia alleging that the popular referendum, in which people expressed their opinion about their own future, was illegal. Catalonian leaders are in prison awaiting trial, except for Carles Puigdemont who escaped to Belgium. Now Germany has captured him on his return to Belgium from Finland where he lectured at the University of Helsinki and is holding him in jail for a Spanish government that bears more resembance to Francisco Franco than to democracy. The European Union itself is a conspiracy against democracy.
The success of Western propaganda in creating non-existent virtues for itself is the greatest public relations success in history.

Washington Has Declared Hegemony or War - Paul Craig Roberts

I agree with Stephen Lendman (below) that the Russian government’s efforts to deal with the West on the basis of evidence and law are futile.  There is only one Western foreign policy and it is Washington’s.  Washington’s “diplomacy” consists only of lies and force.  It was a reasonable decision for Russia to attempt diplomatic engagement with the West on the basis of facts, evidence, and law, but it has been to no avail.  For Russia to continue on this failed course is risky, not only to Russia but to the entire world.

Indeed, nothing is more dangerous to the world than Russia’s self-delusion about “Western partners.”  Russia only has Western enemies. These enemies intend to remove the constraint that Russia (and China) place on Washington’s unilateralism. The various incidents staged by the West, such as the Skirpal poisoning, Syrian use of chemical weapons, Malaysian airliner, and false charges, such as Russian invasion of Ukraine, are part of the West’s determined intent to isolate Russia, deny her any influence, and prepare the insouciant Western populations for conflict with Russia.

To avoid war Russia should turn her back, but not her eyes, on the West, stop responding to false charges, evict all Western embassies and every other kind of presence including Western investment, and focus on relations with China and the East.  Russia’s attempt to pursue mutual interests with the West only results in more orchestrated incidents. The Russian government’s failure to complete the liberation of Syria has given Washington Syrian territory from which to renew the conflict.  The failure to accept Luhansk and Donetsk into Russia has provided Washington with the opportunity to arm and train the Ukrainian army and renew the assault on the Russian populations of Ukraine. Washington has gained many proxies for its wars against Russia and intends to use them to wear down Russia. Israel has demanded that Washington renew the attacks on Iran, and Trump is complying. Russia faces simultaneous attacks on Syria, Iran, and the Donetsk and Luhansk Republics, along with troubles in former Central Asian republics of the Soviet Union and intensified accusations from Washington and NATO.
The crazed neoconservatives, such as Trump’s National Security Adviser John Bolton, think that Russia will buckle under the strains, sue for peace, and accept US hegemony. If this assumption is incorrect, the outcome of Washington’s hostile actions against Russia is likely to be nuclear war. The side that Stephen Lendman and I are talking is neither the side of Washington nor Russia, but the side of humanity and all life against nuclear war.
How the Russian government could ignore the clearly stated US hegemony in the 1992 Wolfowitz Doctrine is a mystery. The Wolfowitz doctrine states  that the US’s primary goal is “to prevent the re-emergence of a new rival, either on the territory of the former Soviet Union or elsewhere, that poses a threat on the order of that posed formerly by the Soviet Union.” The doctrine stresses that “this is a dominant consideration underlying the new regional defense strategy and requires that we endeavor to prevent any hostile power from dominating a region whose resources would, under consolidated control, be sufficient to general global power.” In the Middle East and Southwest Asia, Washington’s “overall objective is to remain the predominant outside power in the region and preserve US and Western access to the region’s oil.” The doctrine also states that the US will act to restrain India’s alleged “hegemonic aspirations” in South Asia, and warns of potential conflicts requiring military intervention with Cuba and China.

By “threat” Wolfowitz does not mean a military threat.  By “threat” he means a multi-polar world that constrains Washington’s unilateralism. The doctrine states that the US will permit no alternative to US unilateralism. The doctrine is a statement that Washington intends hegemony over the entire world.  There has been no repudiation of this doctrine.  Indeed, we see its implementation in the long list of false accusations and demonizations of Russia and her leader and in the false charges against Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Somalia, Yemen, Venezuela, China, Iran, and North Korea.

If Russia wants to be part of the West, Russia should realize that the price is the same loss of sovereignty that characterizes Washington’s European vassal states.

Trump Expels Russians - Poison Attack Or False Flag? (RonPaulLibertyReport)

Before any investigation into the alleged nerve agent attack in the UK has been completed, the Trump Administration announced this morning that some 60 Russian diplomats would be expelled from the US in retaliation for what it claimed was Russian government responsibility. Did the Russians use nerve agents in the UK? Should we at least ask for proof? Is this escalation a smoke-screen for economic events such as the Petro-Yuan?

Boris Johnson A Categorical Liar

Evidence submitted by the British government in court today proves, beyond any doubt, that Boris Johnson has been point blank lying about the degree of certainty Porton Down scientists have about the Skripals being poisoned with a Russian “novichok” agent.

Yesterday in an interview with Deutsche Welle Boris Johnson claimed directly Porton Down had told him they positively identified the nerve agent as Russian:
You argue that the source of this nerve agent, Novichok, is Russia. How did you manage to find it out so quickly? Does Britain possess samples of it?
Let me be clear with you … When I look at the evidence, I mean the people from Porton Down, the laboratory …
So they have the samples …
They do. And they were absolutely categorical and I asked the guy myself, I said, “Are you sure?” And he said there’s no doubt.
I knew and had published from my own whistleblowers that this is a lie. Until now I could not prove it. But today I can absolutely prove it, due to the judgement at the High Court case which gave permission for new blood samples to be taken from the Skripals for use by the OPCW. Justice Williams included in his judgement a summary of the evidence which tells us, directly for the first time, what Porton Down have actually said:
The Evidence
16. The evidence in support of the application is contained within the applications
themselves (in particular the Forms COP 3) and the witness statements.
17. I consider the following to be the relevant parts of the evidence. I shall identify the
witnesses only by their role and shall summarise the essential elements of their
i) CC: Porton Down Chemical and Biological Analyst
Blood samples from Sergei Skripal and Yulia Skripal were analysed and the
findings indicated exposure to a nerve agent or related compound. The samples
tested positive for the presence of a Novichok class nerve agent OR CLOSELY RELATED AGENT.
The emphasis is mine. This sworn Court evidence direct from Porton Down is utterly incompatible with what Boris Johnson has been saying. The truth is that Porton Down have not even positively identified this as a “Novichok”, as opposed to “a closely related agent”. Even if it were a “Novichok” that would not prove manufacture in Russia, and a “closely related agent” could be manufactured by literally scores of state and non-state actors.

This constitutes irrefutable evidence that the government have been straight out lying – to Parliament, to the EU, to NATO, to the United Nations, and above all to the people – about their degree of certainty of the origin of the attack. It might well be an attack originating in Russia, but there are indeed other possibilities and investigation is needed. As the government has sought to whip up jingoistic hysteria in advance of forthcoming local elections, the scale of the lie has daily increased.

On a sombre note, I am very much afraid the High Court evidence seems to indicate there is very little chance the Skripals will ever recover; one of the reasons the judge gave for his decision is that samples taken now will be better for analysis than samples taken post mortem.

Amnesty International: Trumpeting for War… Again

One must marvel at the first few paragraphs of Amnesty International’s recent press release:
“The international community’s catastrophic failure to take concrete action to protect the people of Syria has allowed parties to the conflict, most notably the Syrian government, to commit war crimes and crimes against humanity with complete impunity, often with assistance of outside powers, particularly Russia. Every year we think it is just not possible for parties to the conflict to inflict more suffering on civilians, and yet, every year, they prove us wrong…
Right now, in Eastern Ghouta 400,000 men, women and children, who have been living under an unlawful government siege for six years, are being starved and indiscriminately bombed by the Syrian government with the backing of Russia. […] The international community had said ‘never again’ after the government devastated Eastern Aleppo with similar unlawful tactics. But here we are again. Armed opposition groups have retaliated by indiscriminately shelling two villages in Idleb, which they have also besieged since 2014.” [1]
This is an unambiguous call and a justification for war; it seems that AI is calling for a NATO bombing campaign similar to the one staged in Libya in 2011.  There is also no ambiguity as to who AI deems to be culpable and ought to be at the receiving end of a “humanitarian bombing” campaign.  Before cheering yet another US/NATO war, it is useful to analyse Amnesty International’s record in assisting propaganda campaigns on the eve of wars.  It is also worthwhile reviewing AI’s reporting on Syria, and how it compares with that on other countries in the area.

A sorry record

It is not the first time that Amnesty International has played a role in a propaganda campaign in the lead up to a war.  A few examples:
Before the US invasion to ouster the Iraqis from Kuwait, president George Bush Sr. appeared on TV holding an Amnesty International report claiming that Iraqi soldiers had dumped babies out of incubators. That was Amnesty International’s willing participation in spreading a hoax — a hoax fabricated by a major American PR company.
In the months prior to the US-NATO attack on Serbia, Amnesty-USA put two Croatian women on a ten city-speaking-tour to project their account of their “rape-camp” ordeal — in reality one of them was a top Croatian propaganda official, a close advisor to president Tudjman, who was also known for her acting abilities.[2] Again, this hoax was pushed by a major American PR company.
AI’s coverage/non-coverage of Israeli mass crimes also deserves to be analysed.[3] In this case, Amnesty plays a role in adulterating and reducing criticism after wars or the misery caused by its continuous occupation and abuse of the Palestinians (discussed below).  Amnesty International-Israel served as a propaganda front busy manipulating “human rights” reports to suit Israel’s interests.[4]  AI-London has not commented on the manipulation by its Israeli siblings.
In 2012, Amnesty erected advertising posters in the US applauding NATO’s actions in Afghanistan — “Keep the progress going”, purportedly doing something for women’s rights. This was merely crass pro-NATO pro-interventionist propaganda. [5]
Amnesty-France was instrumental in propagating anti-Libyan propaganda prior to the NATO bombing of the country in 2011.[6]
Alas, Amnesty’s sorry record is much longer than these few examples indicate.

Not anti-war

One would expect a human rights organisation to be intrinsically opposed to war, but AI is a cheerleader of so-called humanitarian intervention, and even “humanitarian bombing”.[7]  In the past, when queried about its equivocal and lame statements about wars, an AI official stated that “Amnesty International is not anti-war”.  Even with this predisposition AI was honoured with the Nobel Peace Prize – yet another undeserving recipient for a prize meant to be given only to those actively opposed to wars. In Syria’s case, AI has given up this phoney “not anti-war” stance for one that is actively advocating war.  Notice that it uses a rather dubious argument about “never again” about standing by in the face of mass crimes; in reality this is an appeal to holocaust memes meant to favour this war.

Syria today…

The Syrian government is presently rolling back the jihadis who had managed to establish themselves in an area next to Damascus.  No government would tolerate to have a section of their capital city under jihadi control, an area from which the rest of the city is mortared, and an area vital to control the water supply of the city.  What would happen if jihadis took over Arlington, VA, and used it to bomb the center of Washington DC? The response would be self-evident.  For some reason AI doesn’t bestow this right of self-defence to the Syrian government, but instead refers to an “unlawful government siege [of Ghouta] for six years”.  This is laughable.

It is remarkable to find that in none of the latest press releases or reports does AI discuss the nature of the armed groups fighting in Syria.  Even those referred to as “moderates” by Washington are a rather unsavoury bunch.  Most of them are foreign jihadis; a good portion of them are Saudis. (NB: Saudis offered political and criminal prisoners a way out of jail on condition of going to fight in Syria.) And they are armed/trained/financed by the US/UK/Saudi/Emirates/Turkey/Qatar… to the tune of at least $12 billion.  The former US ambassador to Syria stated that the US contribution was at least $12bn [8]; this figure excludes the funds provided by the Saudis and other regimes in the area.  Gareth Porter reports that the quantities of weapons supplied to the jihadis were enough to equip an army. [9]  Yet, this armed gang of jihadis is barely mentioned in Amnesty’s assessment of the situation in Syria.  In Ghouta, the jihadis belong to the Nusra front (or one of its rebranded versions), that is, a group with an extreme ideology; they are an Al-Qaeda offshoot.  AI’s press release doesn’t mention this salient fact.

Amnesty portrays the Syrian government as at war against its own people — and Aleppo, Ghouta, etc., under siege; and not allowing the population to escape.  Although AI similarly condemned the liberation of Aleppo, it didn’t interview these victims after the fact.  If it interviews someone — invariably anonymous — it intones sinister fears of the government.  For all its faults, the government has popular backing, and it stands in the way of a jihadi project to carve up Syria and ethnically cleanse it.

TRUMP DROPS BOMB ON TRAFFICKERS - President Donald J. Trump is Working to End Human Trafficking

Editor's Note: While everybody is distracted by the largely corrupt mainstream media who is focusing on traumatized high-schooler's lead campaign to take away American's second amendment rights, and porn star Stormy Daniel's alleged decade old affair with President Trump, stories like this are getting virtually no coverage. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!

HUMAN TRAFFICKING IS AN AFFRONT TO HUMAN DIGNITY: With millions affected worldwide, human trafficking is a global atrocity that deprives millions of their universal human rights.
  • Human trafficking, also known as modern slavery, affects people from all backgrounds at home and abroad, placing millions into a sickening form of exploitation.
    • Per the International Labor Organization, there may be as many as 24.9 million victims of forced labor across the world, with millions going unidentified and unseen.
    • Children are especially vulnerable to this evil practice, as they account for 25 percent of modern slaves.
    • Victims are compelled to perform labor or commercial sex acts through the use of fraud, force, or coercion, reducing the value of human lives to that of mere commodities.
  • The United States is a source, transit, and destination country for men, women, and children – both United States citizens and foreign nationals – victimized by human trafficking.
    • In FY 2017, DHS’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations (ICE/HSI) initiated 833 human trafficking cases, resulting in 1,602 arrests and 578 convictions, and identified 518 victims of human trafficking.
    • The HHS-funded National Human Trafficking Hotline (NHTH) received reports of 8,686 unique cases of potential trafficking in FY 2017, identifying 21,644 potential victims.
  • Annual illicit profits from human trafficking were estimated to be as high as $150 billion in 2014, demonstrating the substantial economic scale of this abhorrent criminal industry.
PROTECTING THE INNOCENT: President Donald J. Trump is taking a stand against human trafficking, dedicating our Government’s full resources towards fighting this repulsive crime.
  • The President’s Interagency Task Force to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (PITF) is working tirelessly to address all aspects of human trafficking.
    • As defined by the Trafficking Victims Prevention Act (TVPA), it is the policy of the United States government to address human trafficking via “The Three P’s:”
      • Prosecution of Traffickers.
      • Protection of Victims.
      • Prevention of Human Trafficking.
  • In March 2018, the President appointed nine human trafficking survivors to serve on the U.S. Advisory Council on Human Trafficking for terms of two years.
  • President Trump declared January 2018 National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month.
  • In September 2017, Ivanka Trump and Deputy Secretary of State Sullivan joined more than 20 world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly for a global call to end modern slavery and to announce the State Department’s $25 million grant to the Global Fund to End Modern Slavery.
  • In February 2017, the President signed Executive Order 13773, “Enforcing Federal Law with Respect to Transnational Criminal Organizations and Preventing International Trafficking.”
    • This Order directed the United States government to identify, interdict, disrupt, and dismantle the transnational criminal organizations that engage in human trafficking.
  • In light of the impending Senate vote on H.R. 1865 – the FOSTA-SESTA legislative package designed to fight online sex trafficking – the Trump Administration is hosting a roundtable on human trafficking to review and discuss the path forward on this critical issue.
