The Nuclear Deterrent - Sargon of Akkad

We are ethically obliged to keep it.

Although there is a danger in having an accidental nuclear war, countries with nukes, especially smaller ones, do not, as Sargon points out, get overtly attacked or invaded. The biggest problem, as I just mentioned, is the threat of annihilation due to misunderstandings. During the Cold War there were numerous instances where both the USA and Soviet Union were seconds away from launching nuclear strikes due to faulty sensor readings.
